Tenants & Communities

As a building owner, Kimco collaborates with our tenants and local communities to enhance property performance, support tenant success, and strengthen the long-term value of our portfolio. We are focused on creating resources that help tenants operate more efficiently, optimizing energy use, reducing costs, and improving overall sustainability.

Kimco is focused on creating resources to help our tenants improve their performance.

Together with the U.S. EPA's Energy Star® program, Kimco created a Tenant Sustainability Tip Sheet that is tailored to retail operators. The tips are separated into 4 categories - Energy, Waste, Water and a special section dedicated to Food Service. The recommendations feature low or no-cost measures that are feasible for most tenants, regardless of budget. Also included are helpful links to external resources and tools - such as Energy Star's Portfolio Manager® software.

At Kimco, our investments in local communities are rooted in good business practice.

As a retail real estate owner, the strength of our properties is directly tied to the health and vitality of the communities we serve. By fostering vibrant shopping destinations, supporting small businesses, and engaging in initiatives that enhance local economic activity, we create long-term value for our tenants, customers, and stakeholders.

Real estate is inherently local. For over 65 years, Kimco’s shopping centers have been neighborhood hubs—integrated into the daily lives of the people and businesses that drive our success. We focus on initiatives that align with our core business objectives, such as hosting community events that increase foot traffic, supporting local entrepreneurs who bring fresh energy to our centers, and investing in programs that enhance the retail experience.

We also recognize that strong tenant relationships contribute to long-term leasing stability. Through strategic partnerships, industry participation, and localized initiatives, we create environments where retailers can thrive and communities can grow—ensuring the long-term success of our properties and our business.

Our shopping centers are only as strong as the communities we serve, and we proudly do our part to ensure a bright future for communities across the country.
