Kimco has provided shareholders meaningful increases in the dividend since its IPO in
1991. For 2002, the quarterly common stock dividend was raised to $0.78 per share or $0.52 per share reflecting
a three-for-two stock split for 2002. At the current level, the
annual dividend is approximately 8.3% greater than than it was a year ago.
Kimco would like to point out an element of investing in a REIT that is often overlooked:
Because a REIT pays larger dividends than most companies, the power of compounding your return
by reinvesting your dividends is more pronounced. For example, if a shareholder reinvested all
of their dividends in Kimco from its initial public offering from November 23, 1991 through November 23, 2001, they
would have achieved a total return of 569% versus a total return of 276% for those shareholders
that took the dividend in cash.
